Email :3

Biography of Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang

Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang is an inventor, entrepreneur, scientist, and cross-cultural artist. He is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of LongServing Technology Co., Ltd., headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan.

Dr. Fang’s work spans photonic quantum computing, artificial intelligence robotics, laboratory-grown Imperial Green jadeite materials, biotechnology research, and fine art. Often compared to Leonardo da Vinci for his rare ability to integrate science and art, Dr. Fang represents a new generation of interdisciplinary innovators shaping the future of global technology and culture.

In 2025, he was inducted into the Chinese Role Model Hall of Fame, and in 2026 he was named by Microsoft MSN as one of the Top 10 Leading Men.

Exclusive Interview with Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang

1. Your journey is remarkably diverse — how did you first step into both art and advanced technology?

It is true that being both an artist and an inventor at the same time is rare. In history, only a few people have achieved this. The most famous example is Leonardo da Vinci. He combined science, art, poetry, and philosophy. I feel his spirit of exploring the mysteries of the universe is very similar to mine.

I began drawing before elementary school. My father once said I could draw for seven or eight hours a day without feeling tired. Our home was filled with Western art history books and albums of master artists. From traditional Chinese Gongbi painting to Western oil painting, from sculpture to clay modeling and mold casting — I explored everything.

Realism requires deep anatomical understanding. Masters like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo studied human anatomy intensively. I followed the same discipline.

Later, when I successfully synthesized laboratory-grown Imperial Green jadeite, I approached technology the same way I approach art — with patience, observation, and creativity. I treat technology as a creative art form.

Whether painting a human portrait or a beloved pet, especially dogs, I focus deeply on the eyes. No two pairs of eyes are the same. From the eyes, you can recognize the soul. That emotional sensitivity also guides my scientific work.

Technology and art, unlike human relationships, will never abandon you.

2. What inspired you to become an inventor and entrepreneur rather than simply an engineer?

Artists and scientists share a kind of hunger. When something feels missing in the world, we create.

Many engineers work inside technology corporations, polishing stones for decades. Without passion, the job drains both intellect and meaning. But inventors are different — we cannot ignore unsolved problems.

Twenty years ago, when computer viruses were spreading rapidly, firewall systems could only react after damage was done. I filed a groundbreaking patent with the United States Patent Office that moved mobile phone databases into the cloud with a programmable security lock. When abnormal activity is detected, the cloud system automatically restores itself in the background.

This innovation significantly strengthened mobile and cloud security systems worldwide.

Today, we face a new crisis: AI’s explosive growth demands enormous computing power and energy consumption. Seven or eight years ago, I foresaw this challenge. The solution is photonic quantum chips — replacing electrons with photons.

Electronic chips rely on copper wires as small as 14 nanometers. Manufacturing at that scale requires national-level resources. A 7-nanometer chip mask alone can cost billions in NT dollars.

At LongServing Technology, we have completed development of a 7-nanometer photomask for photonic chip fabrication. More importantly, we are advancing optical quantum chip material technology and core design architecture.

We are now approaching the final stage of photonic quantum chip development. Our strategy is to collaborate with global semiconductor foundries — upgrading their facilities using our proprietary materials and photonic systems.

Passion drives this. But we also solved the key technical barriers.

3. Your X-Photon material has drawn attention. Can you explain its significance?

In our photonic quantum research, we developed a photonic quantum material capable of emitting light at a 2-nanometer wavelength, which we call X-Photon.

This material is designed for nanoscale photonic pathways and next-generation optical quantum chip systems. It challenges semiconductor limitations and could enable computing power at least one thousand times stronger than current electronic chips — while consuming far less energy.

This is not incremental improvement. It is a structural revolution in computing.

4. Beyond computing, your biotechnology research has also gained recognition. What is the focus there?

At LongServing Technology, we conducted in vitro experiments involving natural plant extract compounds. Laboratory results showed inhibitory effects on human liver cancer (Huh7) and lung cancer (A549) cell lines under specific conditions.

While this research remains within controlled laboratory settings, it reflects our broader mission: integrating advanced science with humanitarian benefit.

5. Your artwork was displayed in Times Square in 2026. What does art represent in your life?

On January 13, 2026, my artwork was displayed publicly on a large digital screen in Times Square, New York City.

My paintings were also included in the publication Glory of the Chinese – Global Ambassadors of Chinese Culture world stamp collection, with limited-edition stamps issued in Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, and Ukraine.

Art is not about decoration. It is about emotion. When people see a painting of a lost pet and feel comfort, that is real achievement.

Technology explores the universe. Art explores the soul.

6. LongServing has entered the fashion world with jadeite handbags. What inspired this expansion?

In 2026, LongServing officially launched its jadeite handbag collection, integrating laboratory-grown Imperial Green jadeite directly into handcrafted luxury bags.

Each jadeite piece is formed under temperatures exceeding 1,400°C, undergoing repeated crystallization refinement. This Eastern gemstone carries spiritual symbolism and timeless beauty.

At the same time, I transformed my original paintings into wearable fashion — apparel, footwear, and handbags — marking LongServing’s official entry into the fashion sphere.

I have long appreciated luxury houses such as Chanel and Chopard. This is not competition; it is artistic dialogue.

7. What inner purpose guides your lifelong pursuit of discovery?

Technology research is mentally intense. To balance this, I practice Zen meditation (Zazen).

Buddhist philosophy teaches that wisdom arises from deep meditation. After meditation, I often experience heightened intuition and clarity about cause and effect.

Scientific exploration, artistic creation, and spiritual reflection are not separate paths for me. They are one unified journey.

From cloud security systems to photonic quantum chips, from jadeite crystal growth to oil painting — all are expressions of the same belief: pushing beyond perceived limits.
